Virgil E. Morgan, age 85, of Sumner, Illinois passed away Sunday, October 13, 2019 at the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital in Lawrenceville, Illinois. He was born August 30, 1934 in Wynoose, Illinois, the son of Lozier and Gladys (Shultz) Morgan. He married Rose Winkles in 1957 and she survives.
Virgil worked at Roadmaster for 30 plus years, and was a grain and livestock farmer. He was a hardworking, family man. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, and watching western shows.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, Donald Morgan; one sister, Marjorie McKinney; one son, Terry E. Morgan; and one grandson, Derek Morgan.
Survivors include his wife, Rose; two daughters, Judy Royse of Sumner, Illinois and Cathy Lawson of Lawrenceville, Illinois; one sister, Naomi Davis of Casey, Illinois; five grandchildren, Heather Royse, Jim Lawson, David Royse, Matt Lawson, and Tara Morgan; and 13 great-grandchildren, Dylan Royse, Codie Corbit, Brianna Runyon, Tyler Shoulders, Jared Glosser, Dakota Reed, Dylan Reed, David Kerschner, Trinity Fahr, A.J. Lawson, Allie Lawson, Bryan Lawson, and Stella Lawson.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at 12:00 PM at the Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Sumner, Illinois. Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Crest Haven Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to the Chauncey Community Center.
