Norma Faye Avra, 82, of Vincennes, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana.
Born March, 13, 1934, in Nickell, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Dewey and Martha (Neal) Steele. Norma was an assistant at Wright Patterson Air Force Base where she met and married Captain Harold E. Avra, DDS. They then moved to his hometown of Vincennes, Indiana where Norma served as an administrative assistant to numerous mayors in Vincennes for over 30 years. She later worked at Organs Greenhouse until her retirement.
Surviving are her sons, Guy Edward Avra (Sarah), of Lawrenceville, IL, Mark Alan Avra (Terri), of Vincennes, IN, and Bret Alan Avra, DMD, (Maria) of Paducah, Kentucky; a sister, Anne Nill; brothers, Robert and Kenneth Steele; grandchildren, Amy Avra-Sills (Dustin), Robin Ray, Mischell Adams, and Jennifer Kennedy; several great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her parents, husband Harold E. Avra, DDS, her daughter Vicki Lyn Bridgman, a brother, Harold Steele, and a sister, Dot Sims.
Norma’s family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 pm on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at Goodwin Funeral Home.
