Michael Jay Cavender, age 55, of Olney, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.
He was born December 14, 1960, in Columbus, IN, the son of William Dennis and Marilyn (Patton) Cavender. He married Peggy Ann Schaubach who passed away October 1, 2010. He then married his second wife Sherry L. Kilgore and she survives.
Mike was a 1979 graduate of Lincoln High School in Vincennes. He worked at Niehaus Home Center in Vincennes for 24 years.
Mike was a Chicago Bears fan and NASCAR fan. He loved fishing and had a love for animals.
Mike was preceded in death by his father and his first wife, Peggy.
Survivors include his wife Sherry of Olney; his mother, Marilyn Cavender of Lawrenceville; step-children, Sean Kilgore, Lacey and their child Douglas, Joshua Kilgore and Mindy Brown; a brother, Steve Cavender and his wife Mary; a sister, Sherry D. Cavender of Lawrenceville; and two nephews, Zac Cavender and Wyatt Stallard, both of Lawrenceville.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 AM Wednesday, at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Lawrenceville City Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Lawrence County Humane Society with envelopes available through the funeral home.
