Duke and WIN Energy customers affected by high winds

Yesterday’s storm that ran through Knox County did major damage to Duke Energy transmission lines south of Vincennes.

Multiple electric carrier towers in the Decker Chapel area were damaged or toppled by high winds.

Leslie Beard with WIN Energy REMC says the broken Duke Energy towers are on their lines as well, which has 85 WIN Energy customers in the Decker area without power. Beard says they are working with Duke Energy on a plan to restore power to this area.

Beard says another 42 WIN Energy customers are also without power in the local area. Contract crews have been called in to assist in replacing several broken poles. Power should be restored to these customers later today.

190 Duke Energy customers in Vincennes are still without power, with about 21 different locations damaged.

Another 25 Duke customers in the county are still without power.

Pike County has also been affected–with around 2,000 customers without power.
