Vincennes University broke ground Wednesday on a new facility that will focus on science, mathematics and engineering. With the help of a $2 million dollar gift from Bill Updilke, a VU alumnus, Updike Hall is scheduled to open n the fall of 2017.

Updike says he’s kept close ties to the University since he graduated and was honored to have his name affiliated with the new facility.

Updike graduated from VU in 1968 and is the president and C.E.O. of C.M.A Supply company in Indianapolis.

VU interim President Chuck Johnson says the new facility will be cutting edge and serve students well in the years ahead.

The Indiana General Assembly approved $27 million for the Center in the biennium budget that was adopted in April.
