The Knox County Parks and Recreation Board is looking to install a new security system on their park grounds. The security system will include multiple cameras, door sensors, and motion detectors. The security alarm will be wired straight to central dispatch. Parks Superintendent Rama Sobhani says the board has wanted to install a security system for awhile now after the park has had issues with burglary and breaking and entering.

Sobhani states he hopes to have the security system up and running as soon as possible.

Enoco, the former coal mine East of Bruceville, is going to be placed up for auction by the Knox County Parks Department. The parks department has owned the property since 1977 and has received back two appraisals stating much the property is worth. The minimum bid for the property will start at the average price of the two appraisals they received.

Parks Superintendent Rama Sobhani says they were hoping the property was going to be appraised for less so they could move the property more quickly.

The buildings were built in the early 1940s and have been added to the national register of historic places in 2010. They are currently leased out to farmers for storage and to grow hay. But before the property is placed up for bid, they must have a conservationship easement written to state what future landowners can and cannot do with the property.
