National Wear Red Day!

  • The first Friday each February, American Heart Month, the nation comes together, igniting a wave of red from coast to coast.
  • This is a time to spread awareness in hopes to help eradicate heart disease and stroke in millions of women all over the nation.
  • Do you know what the risk factors for heart disease are? They include smoking, high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, overweight/obesity, physical inactivity, diabetes, family history of early coronary heart disease, and age (for women that is 55+).
  • Heart disease is largely preventable.
  • Here is what you can do now to reduce your risk:
    • Don’t smoke
    • Eat for heart health
    • Aim for 30 minutes of physical activity at least 5 days a week
    • Ask your doctor to check your blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood glucose
  • So this Friday, February 5th, Lawrence County Memorial Hospital is GOING RED and they are asking you to join! Throw on that red sweater, maybe a jacket, hat…. whatever it takes! Let’s go RED!
