Rae Linda Wampler, age 75, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away on Friday, February 24, 2023 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana. She was born December 28, 1947 in East Chicago, Indiana, the daughter of Theo Isom and Edith (Allan) Ilant. She married James Wampler June 20, 1964, and he survives.
Rae was an RN at the United Methodist Village, Lawrenceville, Little Sisters of the Poor, Indianapolis, and Indiana School for the Deaf, Indianapolis. She was a member of the Lawrence County Hospital Auxiliary, and enjoyed quilting, traveling and spending time with her family.
Preceding Wampler in death were her parents; brother and sister: William Westerland and Donna McDougall; and one grandson: Ryan Wampler.
Survivors include: her husband of 58 years, James; her children: Stacy (Michael) Edwards, Keith Wampler, and Melissa (Steve) Swift; three brothers: James Isom, Homer Lee Ilant, and Kenneth Ilant; seven sisters: Barbara Schweiger, Dorothy DeDe Westerlund, Janet (Fred) Howe, Marsha Smolinski, Kelly (Jeff) Fulmer, Lisa (Roland) Garcia, and Susan (Henry) Ballback; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law: Alan McDougall.
A celebration of life will be conducted on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 12:00 PM CST at the Hi-Way Church of God, located at 10611 Kaskaskia Lane in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be on Saturday from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM CST at the church. Memorial Donations may be made to the Sign of the Kingdom.
