Damian Palmer Hoke

Damian Palmer Hoke, 23, of Palestine, IL formerly of Oblong, IL passed away on Thursday January 26, 2023, in Owensboro, KY.

He was born on July 17, 1999, at the Blanchfield Army Hospital in Clarksville, TN to Robert Hoke and the late Courtnie Leigh Wheeler.

Damian worked for Halter Tree service. He served in the Illinois Army National Guard and was a member of the Oblong High School Class of 2018, the First Christian Church of Oblong and the Oblong American Legion Post #219. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing music, especially when he was playing the drums or any percussion instrument and the guitar. He was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Green Bay Packers.

He is survived by his fiancé Macey Richards, Palestine, IL; daughter Christa Ella Hoke, Palestine, IL; father Robert Hoke, Dayton, OH; sister Cerra Jayne, Hardinville, IL; grandparents Randy and Pam Wheeler, Oblong, IL and great grandmother Shirley Fortner, Springfield, IL and great grandfather Harold Wheeler, Oblong, IL. He is also survived by an uncle and aunt Stephen and Cynthia Wheeler, Paris, IL and cousins Trinity and Alex Kamplain, Paris, IL. along with several other great uncles, aunts and cousins.

Preceding him in death were his mother, great grandmother Mary Wheeler, great grandfather John Fortner and Aunt Brenda.

Celebration of Damian’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday February 5, 2023, at the First Christian Church in Oblong, IL. Burial will follow in Oblong Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time Sunday at the Church. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of a contribution to either the Oblong American Legion Post # 219 or the Oblong First Christian Church, with envelopes available at the church or may be mailed to Pulliam Funeral Home P.O.
