Roger D. Wallace, age 80, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana. He was born on October 19, 1942 in Sturgis, Kentucky, the son of Edward and Verlia Virginia ‘Ginger’ (Butts) Wallace. He married Martha Gerhart on December 05, 1963, and she survives.

Roger was a tool and die maker. He worked as an apprentice for GM in Ypsilanti, Michigan. His family then moved to Princeton, Indiana, and he was the tool room supervisor for Potter and Brumfield, that is now known as Siemens Corporation. After Siemens Corporation closed, he owned and operated Wallace Precision Machining in Princeton. After retiring, he and his wife, Martha moved to Lawrenceville, Illinois. His memberships included the National Wild Turkey Federation, as well as the Broadway Christian Church in Princeton and the Rising Sun Christian Church in Lawrenceville. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed woodworking, coaching softball when his children were younger, and attending his grandchildren’s sporting and music activities. Roger and Martha were part of Be Our Guest with the Broadway Christian Church and Fishing Mission with the Rising Sun Christian Church. Annual fish fries were conducted and the money raised was given to Be Our Guest for meals for people down on their luck, as well as the Russell-Allison-Ambraw Levee District.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Martha; three children, Jennifer ‘Jenny’ Wallace of Memphis, Tennessee, Michael Wallace and wife, Debbie of Seneca, South Carolina, and Diana Akles and husband, Anthony of Nineveh, Indiana; three sisters, Sandy Ellis of Hebron, Kentucky, Sue Shouse of Morganfield, Kentucky, and Gloria ‘Skip’ Quintana of Greenwood, Indiana; four grandchildren, Victoria Akles, Lauren Akles, Kylie Wallace, and Ryan Wallace; as well as several nieces and nephews, both near and far.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, January 03, 2023 at 11:00 AM CST at the Rising Sun Christian Church, located at 13807 Rising Sun Road, Lawrenceville, Illinois 62439. Visitation will be on Monday from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM CST at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois and on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM CST at the church. Burial will be in the Centerville Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
