The Lawrence Unit #20 Board of Education is looking to increase health services to it’s students and staff in collaboration with the Lawrence County Health Department (LCHD). They are working on a grant program which would have nurses on campus at the various district schools to handle issues such as ear infections, strep throat and provide medications for various illinesses. Parental permission would still be needed before students receive the medical care. The program is still being worked on with no firm timeline for implementation. The board did take action approving the annual district audit and adopting the tenative tax levy. Also accepted was a proposal from the firm ADG based in Mt Carmel for design work to improve heating and AC at Parkview Junior High. The Lawrenceville High School graduation date was set during the meeting–Sunday May 21st at 2 p.m.
