The Bridgeport City Council met Wednesday night in a delayed session at City Hall due to Election Day on Tuesday. The council did approve an emergency water service agreement with the South Lawrence Water Corporation. They also were updated by Mayor Tyler Griffin on the ongoing sewage lagoon project. The mayor indicated that engineers have presented a new screen design that could help alleviate blockages that have plagued the pump station. There is no firm timeline or any cost estimates regarding the screen installation as engineering discussions continue. Discussion was held on looking at ways to increase the security of City Hall and the police department offices inside with no action taken. Preparations are continuing for the planned Lighted Christmas Parade to be hosted by the city on Thursday December 15th. Entries are still be taken at City Hall during regular business hours. There will be a meeting of the parade planning committee on Monday December 5th at Lanterman Park in Bridgeport at 6 p.m. Anyone interested in helping is invited to attend. The council did enter into a brief 5 minute executive session and emerged to approve Christmas bonuses for full and part time city employees.
