VINCENNES BOARD OF WORKS AND COUNCIL

The Vincennes Board of Works and Safety met Wednesday at City Hall and witnessed the swearing in of a new firefighter with southeast Illinois roots and 2 new police officers. Cole Newlin of Robinson took the oath during the session. He has extensive firefighting experience in Illinois and other fire training through Vincennes University. Evan McGuire and Trevor Hess both of Vincennes took the oath as new police officers. The board also approved the Wagcar subdivision plat which could lead to the creation of affordable quality housing in that area of the city in the future. The City Council met after the Board of Works and did approve the 2023 Salary Ordinance on first reading  which included raises for full-time city employees along with policemen and firemen. Also passed was the 2023 fiscal year city budget of approximately $17.3 million. it will now go to the state of Indiana for formal approval before implementation.
