The St Francisville City Council met Wednesday evening in regular session and took action to move the long-delayed Wabash Cannonball Bridge improvement project forward. They approved an ordinance approving the terms of a proposed agreement for the city to purchase about 6 acres of wetlands mitigation property and property access easements as part of requirements made by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) and the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers to continue. The sale for about $47,000 was negotiated with the property owner by Mayor Danny Lynn along with city attorney Mike Neal and the engineering firm H.L.R. The next step is for the agreement to be formally closed. Also during the session, the council did approve a ordinance formally setting  the rules and charges for crossing the toll bridge. The council sent to it’s Water and Sewer committee for discussion and a recommendation the raising of water rates in the future to cover the rising costs of producing and delivering water for the city and it’s water customers. It was announced that the city will be flushing fire hydrants for two days-Tuesday and Wednesday October 18th and 19th and that 2022 Halloween Trick or Treat hours for St Francisville will be Monday October 31st from 5 until 8 p.m. CDT.
