Both the Vincennes City Board of Works and City Council held regular sessions Monday at City Hall. The Board of Works received 1 bid from Momence Studios Inc. for work on the Vincennes Police Station Window Replacement Project. That bid was taken under advisement for further study and review. The City Council met afterward and did approve on first reading the Fiscal Year 2022-23 Budget ordinance of around $17.3 million after a required public hearing. The budget will be formally approved in October. The council did vote 6-1 to not accept pay raises in that new budget. Also approved was a resolution for the creation of a Residential Tax Increment Financing (TIF) District to help spur housing development in the city. Council members were given information regarding a proposed city ordinance that would deal with city residential trash collection-a problematic issue for the city. No firm decisions regarding a course of action have been made and the matter is still being studied.
