It is a big weekend in the city of Sumner in western Lawrence County. The 2022 edition of the annual Fall Festival begins Friday evening and continues Saturday. Among the Friday opening highlights is the Royal Family Coronation at 6 p.m. on the stage in downtown Sumner. Queen candidates are Josie Brown, Mariah Labo, Rikki McCullough and Brooklin Laakman. King candidates are Marcus Davis, Keegan Liston, Hudson Meek and Clayton Roney. Also featured Friday will be the Red Hill Dance Team and Cheerleaders, a car show, DJ music, merchant drawings and a beer tent. Saturday begins at 10 a.m. with the Prince and Princess, Little Miss and Mister and Baby contests followed by a pet show plus entertainment from Lawrence County Tumbling and Dance and the Red Hill Jr High Cheerleaders. The Saturday highlight will be the Parade through the city streets at 2 p.m. with lineup at 1:15. Other activities include karaoke, a tractor show, cake walk, beer tent, more merchant drawings and The Tuesdays Band in concert. All are invited to attend.
