VINCENNES POLICE K-9 RETIRES

The Vincennes Police Department (VPD) has announced the retirement of K-9 Sara. The dog had recently been diagnosed with ovarian cancer after undergoing surgery. Upon the recommendation of her veterinarian, she retired from service on Friday, August 5th for medical reasons. The dog will now enjoy the remainder of her life as a family pet. K-9 Sara began with the VPD in March of 2015 with Sergeant Kody Waggoner and in March of 2019 was reassigned to her current handler, Sgt. Jon O’Brien. In a statement, the VPD praised the work of the animal who assisted in the capture of several suspects and in taking illegal drugs of of the city streets during her time with the department.
