The National Weather Service indicates that the Flood Warning does continue until Sunday for the Embarras River at Lawrenceville. There is good news, however. The river has crested. It crested late Thursday night/early Friday morning at 32 feet. That is two feet above it’s 30 foot flood stage. The river has begun a slow fall. It was measured at 31.96 feet Friday mid-morning. It is forecast to continue to fall steadily until below flood late Sunday morning. The river has been high over the past few days due to extensive area rains locally and in the upper Embarras River basin.
