The Lawrence County Board met in regular monthly session Wednesday afternoon at the Lawrence County Courthouse. The courthouse and it’s grounds were the subject of action. After hearing from Building and Grounds Committee chairman Tom Robinson, the board moved to spend just over $11,400 to the firm ADG of Mt Carmel for a study of ways to make improvements to the building itself and surrounding area. Robinson indicated that the study will look at HVAC system upgrading, window replacement, roof and bell tower repairs and sidewalk replacement along with other areas. The study will be paid for through as yet unused grant monies. Also during the meeting, board chairman Jim Brewer reported that the county has received the latest state inspection results of the Lawrence County Jail. Those findings are now available for public inspection at the Lawrence County Clerks Office during regular business hours.
