With temperatures and humidity rising across the area, the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) has announced Thursday June 30th as an Air Quality Alert Day for counties in southwestern Indiana. An Air Quality Alert means that a combination of high temperatures, humidity along with light or no wind and other factors could produce conditions where high levels of ozone emissions may exceed federal standards. Among the counties under the alert are Knox, Daviess, Gibson, Sullivan and Vigo.
