TATE MOTION HEARING CONTINUED

court-2-2

Reports out of Wayne County Circuit Court indicate that no decisions were forthcoming Tuesday in the motion hearing for Ray Tate. The Hopkinsville Ky man, a former Lawrence County resident, recently filed a jailhouse motion with legal representation asking that his guilty plea to the murder of Wayne County Sheriffs Deputy Sean Riley late in 2021 be withdrawn and his life in prison sentence without parole for the crime be vacated. He pled guilty and was sentenced in April. The matter was continued until Tuesday August 9th. The hearing was held via Zoom with Tate participating from the Menard Correctional Center in Chester where he is serving his sentence.
