The Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Board of Directors did discuss the implementation of a shot clock in varsity boys and girls basketball during their June meeting. The National Federation of State High School Associations will allow the usage of a shot clock in those sports beginning in 2022-23. The organization recently held discussions with and surveyed member school administrators and coaches on the subject. The results of the survey showed that 78% of school administrators were against implementation in the regular season and state tournament series and 51% of the coaches were in favor of implementation. The IHSA Board will get together to discuss a course of action at a meeting whose date and time is still undetermined.
