According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) 20 Illinois counties are now rated at High Community Level for COVID-19 spread. 5 of those are in southern Illinois-Johnson, Massac, Marion, Washington and Wayne. 47 counties are rated at Medium Level including Crawford, Clay and Cumberland counties in southeastern Illinois. Lawrence, Richland, Jasper, and Edwards are rated at Low Level. The most recent statistics released by the Lawrence County Health Department indicates that between June 20th through the 24th there were 39 individual cases of the disease locally. The Illinois Department of Public Health numbers show that just over 38% of the total Lawrence County population is fully vaccinated.
