power-back

Power companies say that about all those without electric power due to the strong storms across the region Friday morning have had service restored. This after repair crews worked during the day Friday and into the night to get electricity restored. Both AmerenIllinois and Norris Electric say that a few outages remain for some customers in isolated area and those should be up by the end of Saturday. AmerenIllinois said that over 26,000 of it’s customers at the peak of the storms were without power and Norris said an estimated 9,000 of it’s customers were down. The National Weather Service reports that most of the damage was due to uprooted trees, utility poles and downed power lines caused by strong winds between 50 and 70 m.p.h. associated with the storm system. Several locations also dealt with incidents of flash flooding caused by rains ranging from an inch up to 5 inches.
