Richard Daniel Williams, 75, of Oblong, IL passed away on Thursday June 9, 2022 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, IN.
He was born in Robinson, IL on June 27, 1946 to Rex and Ruth Bernice (Tharp) Williams. On November 28, 1990 he married Candace (Inboden) Allen, who survives.
Richard served in the United States Army and had worked at the Hutsonville Power plant for 20 years, retiring in 2005. After his retirement, he would help Terry Manhart with grave opening. He attended both Oblong and Casey, IL schools. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, coon hunting, riding 4-wheelers and taking rides around town in his golf cart, and his Harley. He would spend many mornings going out to drink coffee. Before his health started declining, he and Candy loved to travel and saw many sites. But most of all he enjoyed the time he spent with his friends and especially his family.
He is survived by three sons Tony Williams, Oblong, IL, Rick Willams and Jami McDaniel, Oblong, IL and Kevin Williams, Greenup, IL; two daughters Melissa “Missy” Williams, Dana, IL and Angela “Angie” and Scott Woods, Oblong, IL; step-sons Joey and Jodi Allen, Dayton, OH and Jesse and Korina Allen, Robinson, IL; grandchildren Toni Hilburn, Kierstin and Zack Naylor, Allison and Jeremy Layman, Tiffany and Dakota Fritch, Tyler Woods, Alleya Williams, Trey Williams, Tynleigh McDaniel, Madelyn Williams and Abigail Williams; Step grandchildren Jessica Bell, Brooke Allen, Claire Allen, Gracie Allen, Johnie and Adele Allen, Jena and Isaac Davis, Colton Allen, Logan Lee, Trinity Lee and Gabe Lee; great grandchildren Simon Hilburn, Aadia Kajander, Zeegan Naylor, Karsyn Naylor, Brantley Layman, Mavric Layman, Olivia Fritch and one great grandchild expected in August. He is also survived by step great grandchildren Bryar Stewart, BryAnn Bell, Brielle Bell and Brecklynn Bell and a brother and sister-in-law James and Sue Williams, Effingham, IL.
Preceding him in death were his parents, step mother Jean Bowen, four brothers and a sister-in-law Kenneth and Donna Williams, Roy Lee Williams, Gerald Tharp and Herald Tharp.
Celebration of Richard’s Life will be held at 1:00 P.M on Friday June 17, 2022 at Pulliam Funeral Home in Oblong, IL. Burial will follow in Oblong Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until service time Friday at the funeral home. The family requests that expressions of sympathy may take the form of a contribution to the Oblong Christmas in the Park.
