LUKING IN COURT

court-2-4

Reports out of Knox County indicate that former Vincennes Police Chief Dusty Luking made an appearance in court this week. He was in Knox Superior Court 1 Tuesday and entered a not guilty plea to Indiana Felony charges of Theft, Forgery, and Official Misconduct. He was arrested on those charges here in Lawrence County late last month. They stem from the alledged theft by Luking of $35,000 from the police department evidence vault for his personal use while he was chief. He stepped down as chief in 2019 after an Indiana State Police and FBI investigation began into the department. A request to have a public defender appointed for him has been initially denied by the presiding judge and will be taken up again in his next scheduled appearance on Wednesday June 22nd. A trial date has been scheduled for October 11th.
