AREA INFRASTRUCTURE GRANTS

The state of Illinois has announced that more than $50 million in grants for essential infrastructure projects at sites across the state. The funds come from the Rebuild Illinois program. The grants range in size from $343,000 up to $2 million addressing needs in 34 communities. Two area cities in southwestern Illinois are on the initial list for projects. The city of Carmi in White County is to get over $1.7 million for water line and pressure reducing station replacement and tank upgrades. The city of Olney in neighboring Richland County will receive $2 million for replacement of storm sewers.
