Illinois State Police District 12 out of Effingham has released the results of Occupant Restraint Enforcement Patrols (OREP) held in Lawrence and neighboring Richland County during the month of May. The patrols focused on make sure that vehicle occupants were wearing their seat belts. There were 31 safety belt citations and 1 child restraint violations issued along with 39 total citations and 17 written warnings. The patrols were funded through the Illinois Department of Transportation.
