LAWRENCE COUNTY MEMORIAL DAY

There was the sound of TAPS and a gunfire salute Monday as Lawrence County paused on a windy warm Memorial Day 2022 to honor its war dead. The V.F.W. Post #2244 and other service organizations gathered at the Veterans Monument at 11 a.m. for it’s annual ceremony honoring those from Lawrence County and the area and nation who made the ultimate sacrifice to ensure Americans have the rights and freedom they enjoy today. Guest speaker for the affair was Lawrence County native and local historian Larry Curry who urged those in attendence to take time and recognize those who died for the country and also those who served and survived in wartime for their contributions to our free country.
