Chester F. Crum

Chester F. Crum, age 83, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois passed on February 16, 2022, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. He was born on July 21, 1938, in Montgomery, Illinois to the late John Francis and Estelle Crum.

Chester retired from the Metropolitan School District of Mt. Vernon in 2002, where he worked as a carpenter. Prior to working with the school district, Chester was a home builder and operated his own construction business for many years. He enjoyed working in his workshop building shelves and working on small projects; as well as gardening, and fishing. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife and children across the country. Chester was a family man and loved his children dearly.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Caroline Rose Crum; parents, John Francis & Estelle Crum; two brothers, Raymond Crum and Tommy Crum; one infant son, Chester F. Crum, Jr.; one son, Donald L. Crum; one grandson, Seth A. Morgan; one granddaughter, Jennifer Lynn Crum; and one great-grandson, Andrew Curtis.

Survivors include his children, Carolyn J. & Donald Brady of Plymouth, Indiana, John D. & Nancy Crum of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Steven E. & Manisa (Missy) Crum of Maynardville, Tennessee, Connie J. Morgan and Deborah K. Phillips, both of Crossville, Tennessee, and Sherri J. Schweizer-Gordon & Scott Gordon of Nacogdoches, Texas; 23 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.

A life celebratory arrangement for Chester Crum will include a private memorial ceremony and ash burial in the Lawrenceville City Cemetery, Lawrenceville, Illinois. Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois is in charge of the arrangements.
