EF-2 TORNADO HIT THURSDAY

The National Weather Service (NWS) has now confirmed that it was an EF-2 tornado that traveled across parts of Wabash, Gibson and Knox Counties Thursday evening. It hit parts of the city of Mt Carmel after touching down around 9:35 p.m. CT southwest of Keensburg and continued on through northern Wabash County before hopping the river into Gibson and northern Knox Counties in Indiana. The NWS says that peak winds were estimated at 115 m.p.h. and the tornado traveled 26 miles before lifting near Iona Indiana. There were no injuries or fatalities reported. There were however reports of extensive damages to buildings and homes in the storm path.
