LAWRENCE COUNTY PRISON FUNDING

The Illinois Capital Development Board has announced over $46 million in investments moving forward to improve and renovate various state prison facilities here in southern Illinois. The money will help address deferred and stalled maintenence projects. The Lawrence County Correctional Center (LCCC) located west of Sumner will get money for two projects. Over $584,000 has been allocated for removing and replacing the headworks of the sanitary sewer system and to also provide a building over the headworks to provide protection from the elements and to provide for code required electrical and ventilating requirements. The LCCC will also get another $264, 000 to install water softeners to service domestic water heaters in two buildings at the site.
