Beverly Jane Curry, age 83, of Vista, California (formerly of Lawrenceville, Illinois) passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2022 at Pacifica Senior Living in Vista. She was born on February 25, 1939 in Washington, Indiana, the daughter of Beverly Bernard and Marguerite (Russell) Johnson. She married Carl Curry on March 31, 1956, and he survives.

Beverly’s life truly demonstrated Christ’s call to love and serve others. As a young wife she worked alongside Carl as they moved to various duty stations from coast to coast. Beverly singly reared her family through three of Carl’s overseas tours. Always finding ways to serve, she spent countless hours volunteering in charitable organizations such as the Navy Relief Society, Meals on Wheels, St. Andrews Food Pantry, and Helping His Hands. An active member in her church, St. James AME and then Central Christian; for years she prepared and served meals, greeted fellow worshippers, and helped gather supplies for Vacation Bible School. Besides being a homemaker, she was employed by JC Penney as a credit manager, and worked for a short time at Golden Rule Insurance. She will be deeply missed, but all those who knew and loved her take comfort in knowing she was greeted in heaven with the words “Well done.”

Preceding her in death were her parents; one sister, Marilyn (Cole); one brother, Gerald Johnson; a son, Michael Curry; and a son-in-law, Horace Hogan II.

Survivors include her husband, Carl; two children, Tamyra Williams and husband, Zeneo of Temecula, California, and Kimberly Hogan of Carlsbad, California; daughter-in-law, Judy Curry; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
