The Richland County man killed earlier this week in a two vehicle accident in Clay County Illinois has been identified as 36 year old Shane Elder of Olney. Illinois State Police say he was headed east Wednesday afternoon in a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado pickup when the vehicle veered across center and collided headon with a cargo van. Elder was pronounced dead at the scene. The van driver, 34 year old Gregory Stewart of Benton remains in serious condition at an area trauma center. Investigation into the accident circumstances continues.
