The National Weather Service is warning Lawrence County and other area residents to be alert and on the lookout for severe weather. The forecast is calling for scattered thunderstorms increasing in number and intensity Wednesday afternoon and evening. Those storms could produce damaging wind gusts up to 70 m.p.h., large hail and the possible formation of tornadoes. In addition, the strong storms could produce enough rain to cause localized flooding.
