The Vincennes City Council met in regular session Monday evening at City Hall and did pass on three readings an ordinance implementing a Local Income Tax (LIT). The .05% tax will be used to help subsidize Emergency Medical Ambulance Service and police and fire protection throughout Knox County including the city. The vote to pass the measure was unanimous on all three readings conducted. The vote was made after no opposition was heard during a public hearing prior to the meeting. The LIT will go into effect in 2023 after it was passed earlier by the Knox County Council and now by Vincennes with support of over 1/2 of the county population.
