AREA SEVERE WEATHER POSSIBLE

Unstable atmospheric conditions are continuing across the WAKO listening area which could lead to severe weather. The National Weather Service says scattered thunderstorms are possible later Tuesday with some strong storms forecast overnight and into Wednesday. Area thunderstorm activity will increase during the day Wednesday with severe weather possible in the afternoon and evening. Damaging winds and hail are a possibility along with the potential for tornadoes. Areas south of Danville in south central and southeastern Illinois will have the highest risk of significant severe weather. In addition, rainfall of 1 to 2 inches is forecast for some areas, which could lead to localized flooding. Keep tuned to WAKO for the latest in weather information.
