WASHINGTON INDIANA DRIVER ARRESTED

Indiana State Police report that a southwest Indiana man was charged with multiple offenses after a traffic stop Saturday afternoon on Interstate 69 in Pike County. A vehicle being driven by 31 year old Kyle Horstman of Washington was pulled over after going 87 m.p.h. in a 70 m.p.h. zone. The trooper making the stop smelled an odor of burnt marijuana coming from inside the vehicle and also spotted a hypodermic syringe on the passenger side floodboard along with a disassembled handgun. Horstman displayed signs of impairment and failed several field sobriety tests and refused to submit to a chemical test. He was taken into custody and was preliminarily charged with Possession of a Syringe, Being a Felon Carrying a Handgun with a Prior Felony Conviction, Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated and Carrying a Handgun without a License. He was being held without bond in the Pike County Indiana Jail.
