EMBARRAS RIVER FLOOD WARNING

Heavy rainfall across the area has led to extended rises on several area rivers and streams including the Embarras River at Lawrenceville. Additional rain is possible in some potential thunderstorm activity Tuesday evening and Tuesday night. They are not expected to be severe. The National Weather Service has extended the Flood Warning for the Embarras River at Lawrenceville until Thursday. The river Tuesday morning was measured at 31.59 feet and slowly rising. It is now forecast to rise to a crest of 31.8 feet Wednesday and begin start a fall to below it’s 30 foot flood stage late Thursday. However, any additional heavy rains will most likely prolong the flooding.
