The Bridgeport City Council met in special session at City Hall Wednesday evening. They approved the request of Police Chief Danny Ash for the purchase of a netgun for use by his department for animal control. The gun shoots out a net which entraps an aggressive animal such a a wild dog and enables it’s humane capture prior to being turned over to Lawrence County Animal Control. They also approved taking bids for the sale of some city surplus equipment. The upkeep of Lanterman Park was also discussed with efforts to increase in fixing it up with expected increased use in the spring and summer months. It was also announced that a public hearing will be held at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday April 12th prior to the regular city council session on the annual Appropriation Ordinance, which covers the fiscal year 2022-23 budget.
