The Illinois State Police out of Carmi have been called in to help in the investigation of the weekend death of a Wayne County man. Reports say that around 8 a.m. Saturday the body of a deceased male subject identified as 28 year old Trask Smith of Fairfield was discovered in a ditch in the 600 block of Southeast 4th Street in Fairfield. The official cause and manner of death remains pending according to the Wayne County Coroners Office with autopsy and toxicology reports pending. No other information is being released at this time.
