The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 1,398 new cases of coronavirus across the state Thursday with 42 more deaths. There was only 1 positive case in Lawrence County and only 4 positive cases Thursday in Knox County Indiana. Overall since the pandemic began, there have been 3,043,893 cases of the disease and 33,052 deaths in Illinois. A total of 21,208,108 vaccinations have been administered at sites across the state since the vaccine rollout began with over 4.1 million boosters given. The IDPH and CDC indicate that 38% of the total Lawrence County population is now fully vaccinated. Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes held a rememberance ceremony Friday morning on the 2 year anniversary of the pandemic. A moment of silence was observed in honor of front-line hospital and medical workers and also those who lost their lives to the disease.
