The National Weather Service now says that flooding will continue along areas of the Wabash River for a while longer. River stages are rising again due to over 1 to over 2 1/2 inches of rain received from Saturday night through early Monday in the upper river basin. The river at Vincennes Tuesday morning was at 16.7 feet, just a little above the 16 foot flood stage, but is on the rise. It is now expected to crest at around 17.5 feet Sunday. Authorities again are reminding travelers to not attempt to cross flooded roads. Monday, a father and son had to be rescued by emergency personnel after becoming trapped in floodwaters south of Beecher City in rural Effingham County.
