The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 1,189 new cases of coronavirus across the state Thursday with 38 more deaths. There was only 1 positive case Thursday in Lawrence County and 5 new positives in Knox County Indiana. Overall since the pandemic began, there have been a total of 3,035,870 cases of the disease with 32,886 deaths statewide. A total of 21,146,167 vaccinations have now been administered at various sites across the state with over 4.1 million boosters given. The IDPH and CDC report that close to 38% of the total Lawrence County population is now fully vaccinated. The public health emergency sparked by the COVID-19 pandemic is officially over in the state of Indiana. Thursday in Indianapolis, Governor Eric Holcomb signed an executive order ending the declaration made when the pandemic began back in March of 2020. The measure however does allow the state access to millions of federal dollars for continued prevention and to continue offering vaccination clinic across the state.
