Ruth D. Waggoner, age 88, formally of Lawrenceville, passed away February 27, 2022 at BridgePointe Health Campus in Vincennes,IN. She was born April 7, 1933 to Henry and Edna Stout in Olney, IL.

Ruth married Marvin O. Waggoner on August 3, 1951, and he passed away May 27, 2018.

She is survived by her four children and their spouses: Vaughn D. and Mary (Saums) Waggoner, Kelvin S. and Kathy (Baldwin) Waggoner, Marva R. (Waggoner) Weisenborn, and Bryce H. and Carol (Racop) Waggoner. Ruth had eight grandchildren that she loved more than ever: Kyle and Melissa Waggoner, Kelly and Ryan Butler, Marcus and Kelly Waggoner, Marvin and Sarah Waggoner, Christopher Weisenborn, Jaclyn and Tom Cantwell, Eryka and Kevin Stein, and Elyse and Vincent Dill.  She was so blessed to have gotten to know fifteen great-grandchildren: Kamryn, Avery, Brandon, Kate, Carson, Maggie, Elizabeth, Ben, Mary Grayson, Miles, Ryleigh, Kelan, Owen, Timothy, and Brooklyn. She is survived by a brother, Floyd Stout.

Besides her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by siblings: Edith, Tessebel, Cocella, Alene, Corene, Wayne, Betty Jean, and Warren.

Ruth led the way as one of the first women bus drivers for the Bridgeport School District. She also worked at the Daily Record, and then owned and operated the Colonial Motel and Apartments for many years. She was an avid photographer and loved attending functions involving her kids and grandkids.

Ruth’s lasting legacy will be the faith and ethics she instilled in her family. We will remember her for her love and care for her family and many others, but most of all,steadfast in her Christian Faith. She was a longtime member of The Assembly of God and very active in the church holdingvarious positions. Her life was a witness to many and we know that there have been seeds of faith planted in her lifetime that will bear fruit for years to come. Over the years she prayed countless times for those she loved. Our hearts are aching, but we are comforted by the fact that we will all be reunited in heaven.

Services for Ruth will be at the Cunningham Funeral Home in Bridgeport on Saturday, March 5, 2022. Visitation from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm with funeral service following immediately.
