The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 1,159 new cases of coronavirus across the state Monday with 12 new deaths. There were no case reports from either Lawrence or Knox Counties Monday. Currently, there have been 3,031,220 cases of the disease and 32,763 deaths since the pandemic began. A total of 21,106,414 vaccinations have been administered at sites across the state since the vaccine rollout began with over 4.1 million booster doses. The IDPH and CDC say that close to 38% of the total Lawrence County population is fully vaccinated. Vincennes University Monday announced it is easing its COVID-19 protocols by adopting a mask-optional policy for students, faculty, staff and visitors at all VU campuses and sites effective immediately. Individuals can still wear masks and face coverings if they choose. University officials will continue to monitor guidance and recommendations from the CDC, Indiana Department of Health and various county health department across the state including Knox.
