James Edward Brookhart III, 87 of Grayville, went to be with the Lord on February 7, 2022 at 10:32 a.m. He was born on July 17, 1935 in Flora to James Brookhart and his wife Sue (Hobbs) Brookhart Litherland.
He married Vada Bohnsteahl in 1953.The had three children and they survive.
In 1965 James married Lilly Malone. She preceded him in death on March 27, 2019. They had one son and he survives.
James was a patriot who proudly served in the U.S. Army for ten years. He attended St. Louis Christian College, graduated in 1971, and was ordained. He ministered in Illinois, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Florida and North Carolina, but his heart was with the Haitian people. He made several missionary trips to Haiti.
Surviving family includes: four children- James Brookhart of Centralia, Tondra Kirgan of Centralia, and Rich Brookhart of Oklahoma: one sister- Ida Mae Burns of Iowa: two brothers- Robert Brookhart of Illinois and John Brookhart of Florida: six grandchildren: ten great-grandchildren: and one great-great-grandson he called “the little guy.”
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lilly (Malone) Brookhart, and one sister Katy Brookhart.
There are no formal services for James Brookhart III at this time. Cunningham Funeral Homes are assisting the family with arrangements.
