The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the WAKO listening area beginning at 12 p.m. CT Thursday through 9 p.m. CT. Mixed precipitation is expected to occur. Rain will begin and is expected to change to a mixture of freezing rain and sleet this afternoon and then turn to snow this evening. Snow accumulation up to 1 inch and ice accumulation of around 1/10th inch is possible. Winds are expected to gust as high as 40 m.p.h.. Slippery road conditions could impact the evening commute. Lawrence and other surrounding counties to the north are right on the edge of the storm system forecast to bring a mixture between rain and freezing rain.
