The National Weather Service says the flood warning for the Embarras River at Lawrenceville continues through Wednesday of next week. The river Thursday was at just over 22 feet, still below its 30 foot flood stage. But with the expected rain in the upper river basin, it is expected to continue to rise steadily above flood stage Friday and crest near 36.5 feet over the weekend before beginning a steady fall to below flood stage Wednesday February 23rd. Some flooding is anticipated in the Lawrenceville area. The NWS reminds Lawrence County and other area motorists of the dangers of rising flood waters. Turn around and don’t drown.
