The Vincennes Board of Works and Safety met in regular session Monday and witnessed the swearing in of two new city firefighters. Both Steven Hensley and Blaine Skelton were given the oath by Mayor Joe Yochum after being presented by Fire Chief Brett Bobe. The additions leave the department with one opening to be filled. Both new men were introduced during the following City Council session. During that session, the council voted unanimously for a resolution against the proposed elimination of the business personal property tax in Indiana. City officials say that proposal could cost the city as much as $1 million without the tax money being replaced.
